First, a sincerest thank you to everybody who read thepublicleague.com during its first football season. It was truly a pleasure to cover CPS football this year.
The top line of the following rankings includes teams’ final records and their preseason rankings, which you can see here.
1. Phillips (11-2) 1
The best team in the Chicago Public League all season long. The Wildcats spent all but two weeks atop The Public League’s rankings.
2. Simeon (8-6) 3
From an 0-3 start to a Public League championship. The Wolverines kept fighting and fighting.
3. Curie (10-3) 2
The Condors won their first conference title since 2000. They turned in some of the most physically-dominating performances of the year.
4. Hubbard (8-4) 7
All-state running back Joshua Land has recorded his final carry at Hubbard, but the Greyhounds have a lot of young talent slated to return.
5. Morgan Park (8-3) 4
One of the city’s best defenses led the Mustangs to an Illini Prairie State title. Senior defensive end Jawon Denton was one of the best players in the Public League this season.
