The Morgan Park basketball team will get its championship rings.
Morgan Park athletic director Michael Berger posted a letter on Twitter last week, announcing the need to raise money for the Mustangs’ Class 3A state-championship rings. Less than a week later, Berger announced that Morgan Park has secured the funding for the rings.
Berger singled out two people — comedian Hannibal Buress and Green Bay Packers tight end Martellus Bennett — as well as the Fenwick community. They all went above and beyond, he said.

Morgan Park defeated Fenwick 69-67 in the Class 3A state championship game. The Mustangs did so without star point guard Ayo Dosunmu.
The Chicago Sun-Times’ Michael O’Brien spoke with Dosunmu, Berger and Morgan Park head coach Nick Irvin for a story about Morgan Park’s fundraising effort. It’s worth your time. You can read it here.
